The colors of Holi festival are seen all over the country. Hindu people celebrate this festival with great pomp. In such a situation, today we are going to tell you about a village in India where people apply color to Muslims and then abuse them. Surprisingly, these people do not get angry with this but rather laugh and congratulate Holi.
Sherpur has a unique tradition of Holi
The name of this village located in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh is Sherpur. It is called the village of Nawabs. The festival of Holi is celebrated here in a completely different way. Here on the day of Holi, Hindus abuse their Muslim brothers after applying colors. But Muslims do not get angry with this, rather they laugh and congratulate. After painting and abusing Muslims, Hindus also get tribute in return. The elders of the village say that this tradition of Holi has been going on since the Nawabi era. Generations have changed, but the tradition still persists.
Nawab Saheb’s Kothi plays Holi
On the day of Holi, groups of Huriyars drenched in colors come out in the streets of the village. The groups make noise and reach in front of Nawab Saheb’s mansion. After this, it starts raining amidst Holi songs. During this time, when people from the Muslim community come forward, the sequence of abuses starts increasing.
No Muslim gets angry at abuses
In such a situation, no Muslim gets angry at the abuses of the Hindu brothers, rather everyone laughs and sees off the Huriyars by giving them some rupees as tribute. This program continues for several hours. The Hurriyas repeat the same outside the houses of Muslim families and move away only after collecting Fagua. Hundreds of Hindu families also live in this Muslim dominated village. When Holi comes, not only Hindus but also Muslims get excited. People of the Muslim community never shy away from helping in the preparation of Holika.
Custom going on since Nawabi era
This village, which has the status of the largest gram panchayat of Puranpur tehsil, belonged to the Nawabs. Elders say that this tradition of Holi has been going on since the Nawabi era. Generations have changed, but the custom remains. The population of the village is around 45 thousand. Of these, only about two thousand are Hindus. The special thing is that there is never any problem of communal tension in this village. People of Hindu community create ruckus on Holi but no one feels bad about it.
