Many such traditions are still followed in the Gurjar community, which were established by their ancestors years ago. Even though we have entered the era of technology and urbanization of the 21st century. But a large educated section of Gurjar community is still connected to its traditions and ideals. People associated with the society told that one such unique tradition established in the society years ago is the practice of playing Santi-Santa after marriage.
Know what is tradition
In this tradition of playing Santi-Santa, the young married couple is first performed the ritual of opening the Kangana by the elder sister-in-law or relative present in the house. Then, after worshiping their adored deities, the young couple is taken out of the house to an open place and mulberry wood is placed in their hands. Then the newly married couple starts the act of hitting each other with mulberry wood (santi).
The whole family is present
Although sometimes the stick is hit with a little force, but this is done only for ritual purposes. In this entire ritual of playing Santi-Santa, the sister-in-law or relatives of the family stay by the side of the newlywed bride. This tradition is followed by the women and relatives of the family, enjoying the whole process to the fullest.
