In India, people are generally ready to help anyone easily. If someone shows even the slightest problem, people come forward to help him. However, many times people take advantage of this and become victims of fraudsters. At present, there are many such fraudsters active across the country, who cheat people by telling them of false problems.
Many times it happens that you are in a public place and suddenly someone comes asking for your mobile. Someone makes the excuse that their phone’s battery is low, then the phone is lost. In such a situation, most of the people help the other person and become the target of swindlers.
Forward your call
Actually, these days fraudsters have come up with a new way of cheating people. Cyber thugs come to you for help and lie to you and ask for your phone number and by dialing *401* from your phone number and then your number, they forward all your calls and messages to their number.
Not only this, they can even access users’ calls and messages i.e. OTP. This scam is so dangerous that the victim does not even get the OTP and any information about these calls, because their phone does not ring. Scammers can also empty your bank account through OTP.
How to protect?
Do not give your mobile to any unknown person. If someone asks for help, you should dial his own number and give it. If you have given your phone to someone then first dial *#21#. With this you can find out whether the calls and messages coming on your phone have been forwarded or not.
If your call has been forwarded to any other number, you can disable call and message forwarding by dialing ##002#.
