Who is Shri Guru Ramrai Ji Maharaj?
The history of Jhandeji fair is linked to the existence of Dehradun. Shri Guru Ram Rai Maharaj ji arrived in Dehradun in 1676. Guru Maharaj Ji had planted a huge flag for public welfare in Sri Darbar Sahib and given the message to the people to get blessings from this flag.
Guru Ram Rai Maharaj is the founder of Dehradun.
With this the tradition of darshan of Shri Jhanda Sahib started. Guru Ram Rai Maharaj is said to be the founder of Dehradun. Guru Ram Rai Maharaj Ji was the elder son of the seventh Guru Har Rai of the Sikhs. He was born on the fifth day of Holi in the year 1646 in Kiratpur village of Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
