There are many temples in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, but have you ever heard about a temple where a dead person comes alive. Lakhamandal of Uttarakhand is such a mysterious temple where even a dead person becomes alive.
A temple where a dead person becomes alive
There exists a place in the world where even a dead person becomes alive. Yes, it is absolutely true, there is a place in Uttarakhand where a dead person becomes alive again. In Uttarakhand, at a distance of about 128 kilometers from Dehradun, the famous Shiva temple Lakhamandal is situated at a place named Bernigad.
What is the story of Shivlingas of Lakhamandal?
Lakhamandal literally means many Shivalingas or many temples. There are many Shivalingas installed in this temple which are red, green, black and white in colour. Each Shivalinga established here is said to be from a different era. Like the white Shivalinga of Satyayuga, the red Shivalinga of Tretayuga and the green Shivalinga of Dwapar Yuga. There is also such a strange Shivalinga present in Lakhamandal in which as soon as water is poured, it shows you your reflection clearly. As if he is making you face to face with your truth. This amazing Shivalinga was found here in the year 1963.
The history of Lakhamandal is very special
The craft of Lakhamandal is so fascinating that historians and researchers cannot stop themselves from coming here. Historians consider Lakhamandal to be of the fifth century and say that when the Rohillas attacked Uttarakhand, they caused a lot of damage to the beautiful sculptures and art of this place.
But that mythology could not destroy the natural beauty of this place. It is said that 33 crore Gods and Goddesses reside here even today. Historians say that Lakhamandal might have been a victim of some landslide.
Due to which it got buried under the mountain. Since then, whenever the land of Lakhamandal has been dug, remains of Shivling and temples have always been found from the womb of this earth, which is being looked after by ASI.
According to a report by Times of India in 2016, ASI says that they do not have funds for excavation. But if such a historical place is not excavated, then will this place not be lost in the darkness of oblivion like other historical heritages, after all, who will be responsible for it?
Lakshagriha built by Duryodhana is located in Lakhamandal itself
It is said that in Lakhamandal, there is the same Lakshagriha which was built by Duryodhana to kill the Pandavas. But Pandavas managed to escape from this lac palace through a cave. Even today that cave is present in Lakhamandal which is called Chitreshwar. This cave opens at a distance of two km from Lakhamandal.
There is a big Shivalinga in Lakhamandal. It is said that when Pandavas came here, they performed Havan here and installed five Shivlingas. Out of which the biggest Shivalinga is of Dharmaraj Yudhishthir and this Shivalinga is known as Yudhishthir Linga. The remaining four small Shivalingas are believed to be of Bhimsen, Arjun, Nakul and Sahadev.
Dead people come alive here
At the back of the temple in Lakhamandal, there are statues of two gatekeepers named Nandi and Bringi. The hand of one of these idols has been cut off, but why this is so is a matter of research.
It is believed that if a dead person is placed in front of these two gatekeepers and holy water is sprinkled on him, then the dead body becomes alive for some time and after eating milk and rice, it leaves the body again. But now this practice has ended.
